About Don’t Tap the White Tile
The beautiful melodies of the piano can put a soothing smile on anyone’s face, but playing one is expensive and hard to learn. Probably this was one of the reasons for the creation of Don’t Tap The White Tile, as turning the sounds of the piano into an addicting fast reaction arcade game makes it accessible to anyone. Accessibility this and accessibility that, but how does the game work, anyway?
It’s quite simple, actually. The whole game is made up of piano tiles, including the main menu, where you can find six game modes to play. No matter which game mode you choose, the main mechanic is the same: The game randomly sets out colored piano tiles before you, surrounded by white tiles on a 4×4 game area. Your job is to tap on the colored tiles in order, and avoid tapping on the white ones, as those mean instant failure. In case you miss a tile and don’t tap it in time, that also causes the level to fail, ending you with a score based on the current game mode’s rules.
The six game modes are the following: Classic, Arcade, Zen, Rush, Relay and Arcade+. Classic is your most basic mode, where you have unlimited time to tap the colored tiles, but the faster you do it the better points you get. You can choose to play this mode in a 25 or 50 tiles version, a slightly harder Pro version. Arcade mode on the other hand works differently, as here the tiles will keep moving constantly on their own, so you have to tap them before they disappear at the bottom. In this mode you can go as fast as it’s humanly possible, and the game speed will go up as you progress. The mode offers Normal and Faster versions, as well as Reverse, where the tiles will be going the opposite way as usual.
Don’t Tap The White Tile’s next game mode is Zen, and in this mode you have a limited time to tap as many piano tiles as possible. You can choose the normal 15 or 30 seconds versions, or even the Pro version, where you get 60 seconds instead. The next mode is Rush, and it’s the most similar to Arcade, as in you can go as fast as possible in this mode as well, but you are scored based on how long you lasted, instead of the number of tiles hit. You can play this in Normal, Reverse or the slightly faster Pro mode.
